How antidepressants affect the cerebral ischemic injury and ischemic stroke

چکیده
Ischemic stroke is the main cause of long-term disability and death worldwide. Studies have pointed out that antidepressants not only can be used to treat depression, but also promote nerve regeneration, plasticity, recovery function after stroke. Some evidences indicated beneficial effects on ischemic At same time, there are risks in treatment process. The mechanisms complicated rarely reported. This review summarizes roles patients animal models stroke, possible against brain injury induced by challenges with ischemia.

Vitamin D and Ischemic Stroke
Introduction: stroke is the most important brain disease. Stroke leads to a reduction in bone density, altered calcium homeostasis, and an increase in hip fractures. Some recent studies show effects of vitamin D on stroke and vice versa. The purpose of this study was to determine of serum vitamin D levels in patients with acute stroke. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we compared t...
متن کاملCerebral Ischemic Stroke
Background and Purpose Stroke is one of the most common causes of mortality and morbidity in the Western world. It results from the occlusion of a cerebral artery followed by severe disturbances in blood supply through microvessels to brain tissue. Despite an extensive literature its pathophysiology is poorly understood, and this has severely impeded the logical development of therapy. Methods ...
متن کاملCerebral Vascular Disease and Neurovascular Injury in Ischemic Stroke.
The consequences of cerebrovascular disease are among the leading health issues worldwide. Large and small cerebral vessel disease can trigger stroke and contribute to the vascular component of other forms of neurological dysfunction and degeneration. Both forms of vascular disease are driven by diverse risk factors, with hypertension as the leading contributor. Despite the importance of neurov...
متن کاملdysphagia in acute ischemic stroke
Introduction: Swallowing dysfunction complicates acute strokes in 25-32% of cases and directly affects patientschr('39') prognosis and recovery. Dysphagia complicates the course of acute strokes through its potential of the development of chest infection, nutritional problems, and dehydration. Dysphagia is also an independent predictor of respiratory morbidity and mortality in acute stroke. In...
متن کاملAttenuation of Focal Cerebral Ischemic Injury Following Post-Ischemic Inhibition of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Activity in Normotensive Rat
Background: Central renin angiotensin system has an important role on the cerebral microcirculation and metabolism. Our previous work showed that inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity prior to induction of ischemia protected the brain from severe ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injuries. This study evaluated the impacts of post-ischemic inhibition of ACE, enalapril, on brain inf...
